What a beautiful place! We did the self guided tour. The property is gorgeous with plenty of amazing views and information about all the plants brought to the island. The water from the spring was refreshing. The older woman working was so nice and the dogs who greeted us were very cute, thank you!
This garden has some beautiful views and foliage. It’s a self-guided tour, and with your admission they will provide a book for you to read about what you're seeing along the way. There are no flowers, so this is not the spot if you’re looking for that.
Stunning experience!!!! I loved every minute of the self guided tour and learning the history of the Hawaiian culture. Being able to see plants that are almost extinct in the wild was unforgettable and made us want to do more to protect this beautiful land and world. Towards the last section of the garden, while on the whale trail, we saw several whales leap out of the water. Definitely, worth the small admission fee. I will be returning on our next visit to the island.
We arrive done day to explore here but were told we needed reservations. We made reservations and came back a few days later. Admission was $20 per adult. And it was well worth it. We spent about an hour and half here walking the gorgeous trail learning about the ancient Hawaiians and plants along the way. Tons of little streams and water features throughout and a great view of the ocean from the top of the trail. Wear bug spray as the mosquitos here were the worst we encountered on the island.
The self-guided tour was one of the best experiences of our extremely fun and eventful 9 days on Kaua’i. It’s much more than a garden; it’s a living natural science and cultural museum, as well as archeological, anthropological and architectural site and laboratory.
This place was spectacular. I was a little worried at first that this garden would not be worth the $30 per person price, but the views were breathtaking and you do learn a lot of history. We made a reservation the night before going and had no problem finding this place or finding parking. We made a reservation for 8:30 AM, but were let in at 8:15 and able to start our journey. You are given a booklet that gives you the history of all the plants you’ll see on the nature walk. The walk is not difficult and there are amazing views. It is recommended that you wear big repellant and in our case it worked out. We were bit a few times by mosquitos but only in the middle of the walk when in the darkest, dampest part.
Beautiful place to visit! Lots of vegetation to look at. We wish there had been more tropical flowers. Definitely a lot of care has been put into maintaining them. Not a hard walk, but it does get steep in a few places. Not sure it’s worth the money…$60 for 2 pp.
Nice little garden, houses many plants, some of them not thriving in the wild anymore. Lots to learn and lots of info displaed. Parking can be very limited (something like a doizen parking spots) and since the famous tunnels beach is close, a lot spills over so get there early. A lot of benches throughout the garden, very cozy ans romantic with amazing views of the mountains and the ocean. Staff is super friendly.
